Animal Classification
Spring is such a great time to study about animals! We have begun our unit which focuses on Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles. The next few weeks will be a perfect time for family hikes; keep a lookout for our animal friends. You might observe amphibian eggs in ponds, and tadpoles soon after. Bring a camera, and show us your photos in class. Remember: safety first, and don't go near water alone!
Healthy Living
In January we are continuing our study of Health. We will learn about the skeletal system and the muscular system, and how we can help ourselves stay healthy. We'll also talk about ways to keep well as a community with good hygiene habits.
In February, we saw a lot of illness, so we have focused on prevention. Visit Mrs. Harper's portaportal to see some great links on good hygeine. We especially enjoyed Henry the Hand. Here is a link to February Hand Awareness tips. Our goal is to get to February break feeling healthy and well!

Buoyancy
In December we studied Buoyancy. We did a series of experiments to explore what makes things float and created some great boats out of different materials. Ships ahoy!
My Pyramid
Our new unit is in Health. We have been learning about the Healthy Living Pyramid, and how important it is for us to make healthy choices about what we eat and the amount of physical activity we get each day. The children have created menus of healthy food choices for a good day's nutrition, and we have had some great discussions about the foods we eat.
